Frameworks and therapeutic modalities explained
Person Centered
Rooted in the work of Carl Rogers, Person-Centred Therapy is grounded in the belief that every person has the innate capacity for self-actualization. It emphasizes emotional awareness and a nurturing therapeutic relationship to foster growth and healing.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
CBT helps individuals understand how thoughts, emotions, and behaviours are connected. By identifying and reshaping unhelpful core beliefs, clients can learn healthier ways to respond to life's challenges.
Dialectical Behavioural Therapy
DBT was developed by Marsha Linehan, building on CBT, and focuses on emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. The term dialectical reflects its central philosophy: balancing acceptance with change.
This modality is particularly effective for individuals struggling with emotional intensity, self-destructive behaviours, or interpersonal conflicts.
Narrative Therapy
Narrative Therapy encourages individuals to view themselves as separate from their problems. Originating from the work of Michael White and David Epston, it supports clients in re-authoring their life stories through a lens of empowerment and meaning.
Somatic Therapy
Somatic Therapy focuses on the body as a source of healing. It helps individuals access and release trauma held in the nervous system by tuning into physical sensations, postures, and movement. It’s especially effective for trauma and stress-related conditions.
Polyvagal Theory
Polyvagal Theory, developed by Dr. Stephen Porges, explains how our autonomic nervous system detects safety or danger and regulates physiological states like fight, flight, or freeze.
This framework is especially useful in understanding trauma responses and shaping therapeutic strategies that promote safety, connection, and emotional regulation.

Holistic Approach
A holistic approach means seeing and addressing situations by considering the whole system rather than isolated symptoms. At its core is the idea of interconnectedness – that all aspects are linked, and a change in one area can influence others.
We embrace mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical well-being as interconnected elements of healing and growth.
